Perpetual Frown

http://chatsworthconsulting.com
'Child, get that frown off your face'
'Smile'
'Will you stop that incessant howling!'
Mama told me
Or grow
With a perpetual frown on your face
Your ringed neck straight

Mama, i am grown now
I have my ringed neck
Frown converted to serious face
Occasional scowl
In-between i laughed in abundance
Napped a boy or two
Turned heads
Broke hearts

I make you proud

Walking Away

I am trying not to think
Think about the fact that I want to cry
Cry with no reason

I want to talk to you
Do not walk away

Doesn't really matter
I will still talk when you walk away

Tell you what
I sometimes get melancholic
Then I am all sad for sadness' seek
Sometimes it gets lonely
Hiding in bed
With my thoughts for company
I get bored too
Of everything

You walked away
Never got to hear that part
The part I say
I am never bored with you
I love you
And pray for you
Always

NOT OF ME

not to be
not of the ache of hollowness
bracing myself for impact
i serenade with my soul
strains of which are borne by the wind

not of me
the mindless pursuits of none ends
though it would be much easier

openbuildings.com/buildings/royal-hospital-chelsea-profile-6836

not for me
to linger on as time passes
it changes
You do not

not of me to regret
and forget and ask
forgive, forgive, forgive
forget me not
Dearest One
Abide with me

Ghana Woman!

So two days after the International Women's Day (IWD), which I agree with my friends that it should be Global Women's Day or simply Women's Day, I write this post.
I just researched how the fight for women's rights started (read this which paraphrases what happened in America) I couldn't get any material on how equal rights for women in Ghana started, but over the period of time from what I have noticed governments in Ghana over the years have strived to be seen as working for the rights of women but through all this I wonder who is a Ghanaian Woman? When did our struggle for gender rights start? What have we done? Is the message of gender equality being driven by only literate women? What about the illiterate woman? Where are we now?

I don't know about you but I feel Ghanaian women have played dual roles in society. As a queenmother, she is the embodiment of a king yet she must decide who is king. As a mother, nurturing. So we might choose to dwell on the positives and ignore the negatives. The official theme for this year's IWD is "The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum"  and that for the United Nations is  "A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women". With these themes all over the place, I will bring us back to the question we should have asked as women in Ghana a long time ago "Who is a Ghanaian Woman?"

Dreams

Give me dreams
Big, hairy, audacious dreams
Stretching coast to coast
That is what I am good for
Dreams
Big, heady, colossal ones

Copy Restricted Images

Did you know you can copy restricted images? This post is inspired by www.flickr.com because they wouldn't allow me to copy an image I wasn't going to use for any commercial purpose. I just wanted to view it: a lot. :)
shamefaced

Anyho, I discovered I could get the image without using any of the tricks this site suggested. All I had to do was:
1. Save that page containing the image.
2. Copy or Cut & Paste the saved site into a folder: What happens?
        - A folder gets created automatically for the saved page and that folder contains the image you want.

NB: This is not a lease to steal images; remember to attribute. I was using the browser Chrome and Window 7 operating system. I hope the operating system had nothing to do with it and it will work just the same for other browsers.
