I threw this awesome party
And no one came.
I invited everybody I knew
And those I had only been introduced to.
A banquet with all the trimmings.
Food and drinks aplenty.
People were kind enough to RVSP.
I was so glad.
The grand day arrived.
Here I was in my elegant gown,
Feeling like a soft breeze in the heat of day.
I throw my door open as the clock struck
On the 11th hour.
No one stood at the gate.
No one bothered to show up.
*Have a great weekend. Please don't chill without me. :)

Advocate
I travel an over-trod path,
Bringing to awareness the plight of the less fortunate.
My voice is the silent one
Among the rush of the cacophonous.
Where others shout;
I look on with seeming indifference,
And pour out muffled screams on my bed.
Quite an advocate, I am,
For the miniature things in life.
Picking up the peel of the banana I did not eat;
So you don't slip on it.
Reuse that plastic bag over and over again,
Trying not to print anything, if I can get away with it,
Leave my left-overs for a stray cat or dog,
Correct a child who speaks out of turn.
An advocate, I am
For the minuscule.
I pick my battles,
I fight them.
I win.
Bringing to awareness the plight of the less fortunate.
My voice is the silent one
Among the rush of the cacophonous.
Where others shout;
I look on with seeming indifference,
And pour out muffled screams on my bed.

Friends
Friends,
That's what we set out to be,
That's all you wanted,
All I ever got.
Friendship.
Something has changed,
Since you came back.
You're terse with me,
Our hangouts have lost their luster.
I miss our closeness,
Miss my friend.
That's what we set out to be,
That's all you wanted,
All I ever got.
Friendship.
Something has changed,
Since you came back.
You're terse with me,
Our hangouts have lost their luster.
I miss our closeness,
Miss my friend.

Fancied Cage
Gliding through countless fields,
Lilac-rose,
Lavender-scented ever-green blossoms of beauty,
Creeping creepers,
Snaking springs.
Leaping geckos,
Vain chameleons.
Gentlest breezes,
Twirling clothes,
Tendril-hair-play.
Eden-like paradise.
Hides precarious gates,
Housed in unseen tongs.
Golden cage,
Gilded paradise.
Now I know why the caged bird sings.
* No, I am yet to read Maya Angelou's autobiography, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. The end seemed appropriate and abrupt enough for what I intended. Thanks for reading and commenting. I have not been posting as regularly as I'd like but hopefully it will end soon. Check out my other blog here. Enjoy.

Perspective - His Version
Wild engaging frolics.
Time flees when with her.
For a while, I forget my woes.
The sun rises and sets with her.
She has messed me up for all others.
I delight in our little traverses.
My favorite day;
My day of birth.
She chose that day;
I have stopped wondering why.
I am not 'the one',
That's all she said.
She messed me up for all others.
Every good eatery reminds me of her.
I don't enjoy the sun anymore; it rose and set with her.
Her delightful scent;
Gone with my sense of smell.
My favorite dishes taste different;
They are not from her hands.
Friends come around;
Not the same with her not around.
She really messed me up for all others.
The worse mess of all;
She took away the music.
*** Love has been kind of one-sided lately. I explore both ways: man, woman, emotions. Enjoy.

Unsaid
He said all the right words.
Did all the right things.
She threw caution to the wind;
Melted like butter out in the sun.
He had her hanging on to morsels of words
Dripping from his lips;
Each drop brings a yearning for more.
The words she itches to hear are never uttered.
She learns from him the strangest of things.
He was hers; her very own muse.
It never occurred to her to ask;
Indeed whether he was truly all hers;
Not until SHE came.
He ruined everything.
Did all the right things.

Melted like butter out in the sun.

Dripping from his lips;
